A Library For Jubilee

     I have a new project!

As many of you know, I've spent some quality time in Haiti, specifically in a little village called Jubilee Blanc.  My dear friend Doreen started a school there a few years ago, and they now have over 100 students who are learning in a classroom environment for the first time.  If you'd like to know more about Jubilee Blanc, or the Jubilee School, or any of the projects that are currently running there, visit these sites:

A thought that has been on my heart for awhile now- these children are learning to read, but they have nothing there for them to read!  I want to give Jubilee a library.

Now I'm no Carnegie, but I figured that it couldn't be too terribly hard to get a collection of children's books together to ship to Jubilee.  As it turns out, I'm right.  And aren't I always?

Dreams coming true- the school at Jubilee

So my friends Doreen, Sarah, Tammy, and I have teamed up to collect a super duper set of children's books, specifically chosen for the needs at Jubilee School, and get them to Haiti.  It's really easy to get involved.  Want to?  Ready?

First, take a look at the list of books below.  See something that catches your eye?  Good.  It's a link.  Click on it.  It will take you to the Amazon.com website.

     Buy the book.

When it asks you where to ship your book, put in this name and address:
Sarah Clements
252 Abbott Lane
St. Simon's Island, Georgia 31522

Your book will be shipped straight to us and we will get your precious cargo loaded into a suitcase bound for a new little library in Haiti.  Why don't we ship straight to Haiti?  Well, we've discovered that packages don't always make it to their final destination, and it is really expensive.  So we haul in all of the school's curriculum in suitcases traveling with volunteers.  It works, trust me.

You'll notice that many of the books are bilingual or trilingual. If you realize that a book you saw on Tuesday is not on the list on Saturday, it means that we have already gotten several orders for that book, and we simply pulled that link down.  If you are given the option of paperback or hardcover, please choose hardcover.  They last longer.  If paperback is the only option (a it is in the case of many of the bilingual books) then the paperback option is fine.

Thank you for participating in this very unusual "stuff" raiser.  If you have come to this blog for the first time specifically to participate in the book drive, welcome!   Feel free to look around and leave comments- loads of comments- because I love them.

     Here's the books.  Enjoy!
